I waited until another McAfee update came around and the problem went away. The last time I had this sort of issue with two identical PCs showing different behaviour when running McAfee was around Feb 2020. In the meantime, I would be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem recently between McAfee and System Mechanic. My next step will be to reinstall McAfee.

The other PC also running McAfee and System Mechanic does not show this behaviour with McAfee and System Mechanic running in complete harmony. It immediately quarantines it and proudly indicates that it found a virus and has dealt with it.

I try to reinstall System Mechanic and McAfee doesn’t even allow the System Mechanic install program to run. It quarantines System Mechanic and removes it from the desktop taskbar. During the week of Monday 8 June 2020, I noticed that one of the PCs started to treat Iolo System Mechanic as a virus. Note, the versions of both programs is the same on both PCs.
